Netflix: fiscal year ended December 2025, from its 10-K and 10-Q filings with the SEC. Medians computed October 20, 2026 from each company's latest annual filing (fiscal years ending between July 2025 and September 2026) and our price archive. Prices for every company, Netflix included, are the last regular-session prices of October 19, 2026; the 1-year change compares that price with each company's last close on or before October 20, 2025. Net margin and price change are our calculations from reported figures. Each median counts only the companies with a comparable figure (sector / S&P 500): revenue growth 19/496, net margin 19/496, 1-year price change 19/490; the reasons below can overlap. 12 are left out of the price figure because our archive holds no comparable close for them. The S&P 500 price figure is the middle company's change, not the index's return.

Company profile

Netflix, Inc. describes itself in its Form 10-K for 2025 as one of the world's leading entertainment services, offering TV series, films, games and live programming across a wide variety of genres and languages; members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time. Its stated core strategy is to grow its business globally within the parameters of its operating margin target, and it offers a range of pricing plans, including an ad-supported subscription plan. As of December 31, 2025, prices on its paid plans ranged from the U.S. dollar equivalent of $1 to $37 per month.

Netflix operates as one operating segment, and its revenues are primarily derived from monthly membership fees. It also earns revenue from advertisements on its service, consumer products, live experiences and other sources, which the 10-K says were not a material component of revenues in 2023, 2024 or 2025. It reports revenue by region rather than by segment: United States and Canada (UCAN); Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA); Latin America (LATAM); and Asia-Pacific (APAC). Total U.S. revenues were $18.5 billion in 2025, and currencies other than the U.S. dollar accounted for 56% of revenue. During 2025 Netflix discontinued reporting membership numbers, including average paying memberships and average monthly revenue per paying membership, focusing instead on revenue and operating margin.

Netflix was incorporated on August 29, 1997 and began operations on April 14, 1998. It is a Delaware corporation with principal executive offices at 121 Albright Way, Los Gatos, California, and its common stock trades on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol NFLX. It completed a ten-for-one forward stock split on November 14, 2025, and had approximately 16,000 full-time employees at the end of 2025. Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters are co-Chief Executive Officers and Spencer Neumann is Chief Financial Officer. Reed Hastings, Chairman when the 10-K was filed, did not stand for re-election at the June 4, 2026 annual meeting, and the board appointed Jay Hoag, its Lead Independent Director since 2012, as Chairman from the end of that meeting, according to two Form 8-K filings. Director Anne Sweeney resigned from the board on July 26, 2026, according to another Form 8-K.

On December 4, 2025, Netflix agreed to acquire the streaming and studios businesses of Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (WBD), including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO; under the agreement as amended on January 19, 2026, WBD stockholders were to receive $27.75 in cash per share, for a total equity value of approximately $72.0 billion and an enterprise value of approximately $82.7 billion as of December 4, 2025, according to the 10-K. On February 27, 2026, WBD terminated the agreement in order to enter into a merger agreement with Paramount Skydance Corporation, which paid Netflix the $2.8 billion termination fee on WBD's behalf, and Netflix's related bridge and credit commitments terminated automatically, according to a Form 8-K. Netflix recorded the fee in interest and other income (expense) in the first quarter of 2026.

According to its 10-Q for the second quarter of 2026 (unaudited), revenues for that quarter were $12,559,938 thousand, 13% higher than a year earlier, and revenues for the first six months of 2026 were $24,809,695 thousand. Net income for the six months was $8,684,205 thousand (unaudited), which includes the $2.8 billion termination fee. In March 2026 Netflix completed an acquisition, accounted for as a business combination, for a total purchase price of approximately $587 million in cash, and in the first half it made $729 million of non-routine payments related to non-income tax assessments in Brazil for prior tax periods. In July 2026 it issued $1 billion of 5.250% senior notes due 2036, intending to use the proceeds to repay its 4.375% senior notes due 2026 at maturity and for general corporate purposes. In its July 16, 2026 shareholder letter, furnished with a Form 8-K, Netflix narrowed its 2026 revenue forecast to $51.0 billion to $51.4 billion with an operating margin of 31.5%; these are company projections, not reported results.
