Allstate's latest reported figures next to the median of the other 75 S&P 500 Financials companies and of the other 502 S&P 500 companies; each median is taken over the companies with a comparable figure (counts in the footnote). A median is the middle value, not an average, so one very large company does not move it.

Allstate: fiscal year ended December 2025, from its 10-K and 10-Q filings with the SEC. Medians computed October 21, 2026 from each company's latest annual filing (fiscal years ending between July 2025 and September 2026) and our price archive. Prices for every company, Allstate included, are the last regular-session prices of October 20, 2026; the 1-year change compares that price with each company's last close on or before October 21, 2025. Net margin and price change are our calculations from reported figures. Each median counts only the companies with a comparable figure (sector / S&P 500): revenue growth 75/496, net margin 75/496, dividend per share 61/349, 1-year price change 75/488; the reasons below can overlap. 14 are left out of the price figure because our archive holds no comparable close for them; dividend medians are among the 61 sector and 349 S&P 500 companies reporting a per-share dividend. The S&P 500 price figure is the middle company's change, not the index's return.
The Allstate Corporation is an American insurance company, headquartered in Glenview, Illinois since 2022. Founded in 1931 as part of Sears, Roebuck and Co., it was spun off in 1993, but was still partially owned by Sears until it became an independent company completely in June 1995. The company also has personal line insurance operations in Canada.
The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) describes itself in its annual report for 2025 (Form 10-K) as one of the largest publicly held personal lines insurers in the United States. The "Allstate at a Glance" part of Item 1 calls it the 3rd largest personal property and casualty insurer in the United States, based on 2024 statutory direct premiums written according to A.M. Best, and gives 211 million policies in force. Its stated strategy is to increase market share in personal property-liability and broaden protection offerings. It is a Delaware corporation with its principal executive offices at 3100 Sanders Road, Northbrook, Illinois; its fiscal year ends December 31. As of December 31, 2025 Allstate had approximately 53,000 full-time employees and 300 part-time employees (10-K).
Allstate reports four segments: Allstate Protection, which offers private passenger auto, homeowners, other personal lines and commercial insurance under the Allstate, National General, Direct Auto and Answer Financial brands; Run-off Property-Liability, policies written from the 1960s through the mid-1980s with exposure to asbestos, environmental and other claims; Protection Services (Protection Plans, Roadside, Dealer Services, Identity Protection and Arity); and Corporate. On April 1, 2025 it closed the sale of its employer voluntary benefits business (American Heritage Life Insurance Company and American Heritage Service Company) for $1.9 billion in cash, net of purchase price adjustments, and on July 1, 2025 the sale of its group health business (Direct General Life Insurance Company, NSM Sales Corporation and The Association Benefits Solution, LLC) for $1.23 billion in cash, net of purchase price adjustments. The 10-K says the Allstate Health and Benefits segment is no longer a reportable segment (10-K for 2025, Disposition and Reportable Segments notes).
